They swirl the Turkish dervishes – Turcata by Aldo Mondino

Their heads tilted to the side, their hands reaching the sky, their eyes closed, they swirl the Turkish dervishes.

Pure and humble, their gestures are repetitive, letting them enter an otherworldly meditative state. They swirl the Turkish dervishes.

As they twirl, the fabric at their ankles lifts and accompanies the dancers into their rituals. They swirl the Turkish dervishes.

Monotonous and slow paced, the music has the effect of a snake-charming on its captivated preys. They swirl the Turkish dervishes.

White shadows move in unison, following the rhythm of the Turkish chants. They swirl the Turkish dervishes.

Away from reality, closer to God the dancers escape their own bodies to reach their spiritual kingdom. They swirl the Turkish dervishes.
